OK, so what do you do if when you go to Tools, Options, General and those boxes are not checked? The only option that is checked is "open messenger when windows main opens" Cant find any other options.

Leo,
By the way, that is my zodiac sign. I wish, dear god, I wish I had come to your site on Jan 28, 2006, because something happened on Jan 29 that has, well, ruined my life!! You see, my fiance was visiting and I bought her a new Dell laptop. Anyway, being the good boyfriend that I am, I set it up fr her with MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Picassa, Adobe, MS Office etc etc. Now, she leaves the country to go back and get ready to plan our wedding in India around Jan 24. On Jan 29, she calls to tell me that I have betrayed her trust by lying to her. She then sends me a text of an email in Notepad that, to my horror, was sent by me to a buddy of mine. It was a [harmless] email written after a night out with some of my buddies, describing this hot russian girl we met at the nightclub the night before. No wrong done, just an email, saying that she's hot and how i would love to get 'further acquainted with her'. Truth is, obviously nothing happened, but try telling that to a girl. Alright, downright stupid, considering I have a serious gf, I should not have shot off that email. Or, at the least, deleted it and the reply from my buddy, agreeing to my assessment of this babe. It gets worse, my gf goes into my hotmail and proceeds to read through a folder that contained a shit load of emails between my ex girlfriend and me, with whom I had ended our relationship last year. I was over her, she wasn't and had continued to write to me even after I had met my new gf. So i'm thinking, how the f@#$ did she get into my email.

Thanks to bloody Microsoft and those damn software engineers, after I set up her laptop, I probably used MSN, and did not do any of the wonderful steps outlined by you above. So, here she was 15000 miles away, looking at private stuff of mine that I had been stupid not to delete in the first place. So, now my marriage is canceled, she's threatening to break up with me cos she thinks I'm a player and a liar and entertaining my ex's advances for getting back with her. None of these are true, I love my present gf and really want this relationship to work.

Now, questions for you?
1. Is there any way for me to still get my relationship and fiance back?
2. Can I sue Microsoft for creating a wonderful little utility to make our lives easier and in the process, destroying any chance of privacy and security controls and the pain/suffering that I have endured since Jan 29?
3. Will the lessons learnt make me super savvy about security like Cloie or Edgar (from 24)?

Thanks very much,

A very tormented and destroyed - Nik, Virginia

1. I couldn't tell you.

2. In the U.S. at least, anyone can sue anyone for anything any time. The real question is would you win? THAT seems unlikely.

3. Seems unlikely.

Best of luck.

Thanks for his article, but I have this problem on a shared computer at work, it has an older version of MSN msgr, no three check boxes, or "forget me" at logon screen (I have disabled automatic sign in). Any advice?
thx

Ok, so how do I stop MSN Messenger (ver 7.5) from loading when I go to hotmail.com?

Please don't give me the HKLM/Software/BlahBlah... it's not there. MSN Messenger ONLY runs when I go to hotmail.com.

I wonder if there is a possible way to break into an email account. Really i dont think it can be done. Noone on the internet seems to be capable of doing that. All the hackers on the net are lamers. I want someone to try to break into my account. If you want mess everything up, do whatever you want to do, but i know that its not possible, if you do, i might even give 10 bucks through paypal, and then i'll want to know if you could do it again on another account, this is just to see if there is someone who can do it. Im not gonna be mad, really i want you to mess everything up, i want to see how well you do to try to make me mad, if you do, then ill want you to do it again for 50 bucks through paypal.

Good Luck and Thanks You. . .

Hi. I was surfing the net looking for advice on how to totally remove MSN / Messenger from my laptop. My wife left my 15 year old son on my laptop one night and somehow he created an msn account? I thought I got rid of it from my change/remove programs key from the control panel. However, I had the treat of seeing his internet history on my laptop from another computer source! How do I get rid of any internet access to my laptop from this source? Did my son use my computer to create this, then he can use other people's computers and it shows on my laptop? Thanks, Trevor.

When you click sign in with a different emaild address on msn 7.0 and you sign in with a different email it remembers the email, and other ones you have used. How do I clear these emails so it no longer says them. I've done this once before, I think in control panel but it was by mistake and I don't remember how I did it, despite several attempts. Thankyou for your time.
