Read the article that everyone's commenting on. Hi Leo... Nice site... and let me put this to you to continue this thread about CRC: I've just got a new laptop from Dell... it has XP Prof SP2, up to now I've been using XP Home SP1 (deliberately did not "up"grade to SP2). Otherwise presumably I'll have to reformat, install XP Home SP1 on the new machine and struggle to stop Micro$oft inflicting its hateful "up"grades on me and causing me even more Micro$oft-related stre$$... than normal? Thanks The first , I want to say with you : " Thank a lot " . And now , this is my question . i had exactly the same thing as d fella from vietnam tu le thuy. an installation went as far as 95% before givin me this guff about cyclic redundancy check! this was a 2 cd installation and i was wondering if something got lost in switching the cds?! Posted by: niall dunne at January 26, 2007 1:38 PMHi Leo PS How do I read the replies you give to commenters Posted by: George Laskaris at February 9, 2007 8:46 AMYou might mention that you can also get a CRC error on SD cards... and various other media.... not only CDs/DVDs. Posted by: Everyone at March 5, 2007 3:46 PMI get CRC error when I try to read the dvd disc that I just burned. But the problem is when I try to burn the compilation again I get the CRC error again on the particular files that I was getting before. Is there a problem with the hard disk? Posted by: John Anderson at April 23, 2007 8:47 PMhttp://filerecovery.hostyourself.net/ Hi Leo, I've done everything you've said but I still get a CRC error after i've burnt a DVD/CD. Is there something wrong with my DVD Drive? Posted by: Me at July 8, 2007 8:53 PMI recently got a Cyclic Redundancy Check error but can't delete the offending files. How can that be done? i have similar problem, i was having problems with my laptop, took it to local bestbuy for fix, i purchase backup discs of my hard drive so i wouldn't lose any info.. well the laptop was fix and is working perfect. but now when i try to copy or reload my backed up files for discs(which are "DVD+R DL double layer 8.5 GB RW") i get the the "Data Error-cyclic redundancy check". when i first load the DVD discs my disc drive immediately begins to click & whirred after a couple on minutes of this files & folders appear, but as soon as a click any folder the whirring begins again and the folder eventually opens. once i get to a file i want to open/copy it whirrs again then i get error. the disc aren't scratch & i have clean any way, even tried running disc thru "cd check" software program it wasnt able to read them. The best buy personell said my dvd/cd rom drive was reading them to slow, and that was cause for error and i just needed a faster drive to get files. i have a toshiba DVD-rom SD-R2312, it it operates perfectly while watching dvd's or burning cd's.. please help Posted by: mo blake at July 22, 2007 1:44 PM
