Interesting. I am not having problems, but gave gpedit a try anyway. On my copy of XP Pro, the only sub folder under Administrative Templates is Windows Components. I don't have any of the others.

I have XP Professional and went through the gpedit.msc and it didn't work. I then edited the Registry as recommended, and it didn't work either. I still get the task manager disabled error message.
Before I did any of this, I ran McAfee and cleaned my whole system.
Any suggestions?

If you are still having a problem with the disabled task manager after you have edited the registry to remove it, then more than likely there is an auto loader that is reloading the disable task manager. It can be removed in safe mode once you have found the autoloader, most likely it is in a temp file. Its just a suggestion.

My task manager was disabled too but when i did the gpedit thing my task manager was in a 'not configured' state. After doing that thing it did not work still. Any solutions?
