Helping people with computers... one answer at a time.
To broadcast your DSL wirelessly, you will need to add the right equipment to your network.
My son-in-law purchased a tablet and he brought it over to me to see if I could get it working for him. I'm new to a tablet, but it's a computer so I followed the information that came with it. No luck in getting the Wi-Fi network to give me the internet. It kept saying, "Out of range." Is there a way to use my DSL provider from my PC to give it the internet?

In this excerpt from Answercast #37, I look at a tablet that cannot find a connection. A good guess is that no wireless connection is available.

I get variations of this question very often. The issue with Wi-Fi is that it's not something you just get out of the air. You actually need to provide a Wi-Fi hotspot.
So the answer to your question is yes.
What you do is you end up connecting your DSL to a Wi-Fi router; or perhaps connect a Wi-Fi access point to your existing router. That then provides Wi-Fi access to any of the computers that happen to be within range.
Wi-Fi is considered a short-range service. It's usually measured at about 300 feet, although (depending on the coverage and quality of the signal) it can be either shorter or longer than that.
That's why it's just not something you can pull out of the air anywhere. You actually need to provide something for that computer to connect to.
That's what a wireless access point is and that is what you would then
connect to your home network. I do have an article, "How should I
setup my home network?" that shows a block diagram of how I typically
recommend people setup a home network – including a wireless access
point.
