Posted by: Leo at October 7, 2005 9:27 AMHi Leo, when I try to run system file checker a black screen comes up then instantly goes away. Please help.
Posted by: luke at December 2, 2005 4:19 PMYou need to run a command prompt (start, run and then type "cmd" and OK), and then run the sfc /scannow in the resulting command window.
Posted by: Leo at December 15, 2005 8:21 PMWhat is the System File Checker, and how do I run it?
Well Leo explained very well. It is pretty simple and obvious to me.
Here is another way to help you:
Click the Start Icon / Run / Type: “SFC /scannow” without the quote.
Or copy paste
There you go…
Be patient it takes a while. Than restart Windows…

Posted by: Remi at December 22, 2005 4:01 PMI ran SFC/scannow & expected a report when it was done - but none was produced. If a report was created, where should I look for it?
Posted by: Dan at January 20, 2006 10:30 PMThere's no report that I'm aware of. Basically if it finds an error, it'll let you know. Otherwise no news is good news. :-)
Posted by: Leo at January 20, 2006 10:35 PMWhat if the apps error does not cause a system crash, just a simple click ok,and it's gone would you still run the SFC? IEXPLORE.EXE Application Error
The instruction at "0x1001cbf1" referenced at "0x1001cbf1". The memory could not be "read". Click on ok to terminate the program. That's the apps error i got twice in two days. what should I do about it. XP Home SP2 IE 6
