I have to disagree. The Home user needs to initiate the request:

Choose START - HELP & SUPPORT - INVITE A FRIEND TO CONNECT TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH REMOTE ASSISTANCE

Does this remote assistance work on Win 98SE?

I have 98 at work and xp home ...at home...That would be a VERY handy feature if it works on 98...
Is it possible?

Remote assistance is a little different, and unfortunately, no, it doesn't work attempting to access a Win98 computer remotely. I'm not sure about Win98 accessing a WinXP computer, though.

Sure, but the support is not built in to WIndows 98. You'll have to get a packages such as pcAnywhere, LapLink or others.

VNC ( http://www.realvnc.com/ ) is a free remote desktop. It is slow but you can connect to the server with a web browser or its client.

I am trying to attach to another PC(server), using PCanywhere 11.0.1. I am running Windows XP Home Edition. I get the following message 'Unable to attach to specified device' I have the correct IP address of the PC, but can't seem to connect to it. Should I be able to connect using XP Home?

in win98 2000 hell i think xp for that matter all you ghave to do is use the remote help feature in netmeeting you will have to know the ip and port fro both computers since the irectory feature is gone but iave used on win2000 and win 98 machines

The remote desktop feature is free from microsoft website. It supports 98 throught to XP pro. Or you can use the older Terminal server

Unfortunetly, Netmeeting won't install on XP.

I used to work at MS on Netmeeting, and consider this totally stupid; before upgrading one machine to XP everything worked fine, afterwards, I can't get my work done without running around.
