I have to disagree. The Home user needs to initiate the request:
Choose START - HELP & SUPPORT - INVITE A FRIEND TO CONNECT TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH REMOTE ASSISTANCE
Posted by: Betty at June 11, 2004 6:02 AMDoes this remote assistance work on Win 98SE?
I have 98 at work and xp home ...at home...That would be a VERY handy feature if it works on 98...
Is it possible?
Remote assistance is a little different, and unfortunately, no, it doesn't work attempting to access a Win98 computer remotely. I'm not sure about Win98 accessing a WinXP computer, though.

Sure, but the support is not built in to WIndows 98. You'll have to get a packages such as pcAnywhere, LapLink or others.
Posted by: Leo at July 13, 2004 8:57 AMVNC ( http://www.realvnc.com/ ) is a free remote desktop. It is slow but you can connect to the server with a web browser or its client.
Posted by: Bill at July 17, 2004 10:21 PMI am trying to attach to another PC(server), using PCanywhere 11.0.1. I am running Windows XP Home Edition. I get the following message 'Unable to attach to specified device' I have the correct IP address of the PC, but can't seem to connect to it. Should I be able to connect using XP Home?

Posted by: d.c. at October 12, 2004 10:27 AMThe remote desktop feature is free from microsoft website. It supports 98 throught to XP pro. Or you can use the older Terminal server
Posted by: Leeroy at November 29, 2004 2:15 PMUnfortunetly, Netmeeting won't install on XP.
I used to work at MS on Netmeeting, and consider this totally stupid; before upgrading one machine to XP everything worked fine, afterwards, I can't get my work done without running around.
