Posted by: Leo at March 28, 2005 2:04 PMOnly XP Pro supports the Remote Desktop feature, which is a single-session version of Terminal Services. You can access a Windows XP Remote Desktop from any OS that supports a Terminal Services client (such as Windows 98 and XP Home). XP Home can act as the client in a Remote Desktop session but *only* Pro can be the server.
Posted by: Devout1 at June 1, 2005 10:11 PMHow do I connect to my home computer from my friends house to my PC using Win XP Remote Desktop? I can do it within my home just by typing in the names of the PC to connect to other computers in my house. But how do I do it over the internet?

Pay particular attention to the notes on routers.

Posted by: HMM at August 25, 2005 8:22 AMI have managed to connect my 2 xp home machines using the windows messenger to startup a remote assistance session. i happened to have 2 msn accounts to use.
1) log onto windows messenger on both machines
2) on the computer you want to connect to, open up a chat window to your other account, click request remote assistance. accept on the other machine, then again on the host machine.
3) a remote assistance window will pop up, on the "client" machine, click take control, accept on the host machine.
you can log off of the messenger accounts (but not close messenger)
you will have the other machines screen on your desktop, full access and everything.
took me about 15 mins to figure it all out, and maybe 7 trips up and down our stairs.
Get MSN Messenger 7.5 from http://messenger.msn.com/xp/downloadx.aspx.
Install this. tell them to download MSN 7.5 as well. When you both have MSN 7.5 Installed either of you can select Activities whilst in chat with each other, then select Remote Assistance. This will only appear if, both of your remote boxes are both ticked on both computers. Hope you found this useful.
Many Thanks,
Darren.
