My computer is turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Why?

I'd recommend you check all your cooling fans, might be a broken CPU fan so you computer shuts down of overheating.

Hello, My pc was working fine before.
About a week I got disk error message on the screen. I have tried to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart as it asked me. However, not any luck. I have reformatted again and istalled windows xp pro on it. It works fine but now it turn off by itself about every 20-40 minutes. I have no idea what is going on wrong. I know I don't have any virus on my machine bucause I scaned several times. Help if you have any idea.

My pc was working properly for atleast 2 yrs. For the past week my pc freezes. I was told that the fan need to clean it is not working. I knew that the fan was working so I clean it. Presently my pc shutdown after minutes, sometimes seconds after booting up. What do you think is the problem

hi im anita.I just got my pc not to long ago.it was working find until i started getting all of these viruses and pop-ups.i did a virus scan and it found about 9 and on today feb.25 my pc kept on re-starting about every 5 minutes ive been trying to fix this but it doesnt seem to be workin can u help me?

i have the same problem... only thing i can think of that might have caused this is if you opened your computer and maybe didn't or improperly ground yourself before handling the equipement. the hardware is very sensitive to static and that could be what is causing malfunctions...if this is the case i don't even know how to find out what needs to be replaced

Hey, I have excacly the same problem but i think what is causing this problem for you all is the bropia worm. It ussually swapps ur left and right button .. and sends unknown files to contacts on ur msgner. Search bropia worm on google. May help?

I have the same prob But My Pc turns on and off for about 5 seconds nothing on the screen nothing its just keep turning on and offevery 5 seconds

That sounds like a hardware problem ... most likely the power supply but it could be other things as well. I'd take it in to be looked at by a hardware tech.

My NEW PC was fine until suddenly when I go to play games, after 10 mins it turns itself off. I think it was caused when I tried installing a modem and even after unistalling it still turns itself off! I've got no idea what to do!!! HELP ME
