My computer is turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Why?

I have e-machine p4.3 with 512 ram,120 hd with
windows xp a two years old.Was working fine until 2 weeks ago started to turn off every 10 to 20 min while im in the internet.I clean all the fans, check all wires connections and no virus found and still have same problem.Please help.

check for the settings in the BIOS about power management that might be the cause of your problem, or Try changing your power supply to test if its working or not.

I am having the same problem he is having, except it is happening during a my spyware/adware scanners. How would I change the power supply?

Hi my problem is i turn my pc on and it gets to the desktop everything is ok 4 about 5 mins then it crashes i could open a program as soon as everything has loaded go on the net but it will still crash in 5 mins about.. if i press the restart button it loads up and every thing works ok please help .. i have done all the normall checks running windows xp home sp 2 please can anyone help me

I have same problem, i turn on my pc, then 20 minutes later turns off by itself. The monito flick one time and turns off. Then i have to wait exact 10 minutes to turn it on again. THe fan is ok and no virus sign. Why is that, what can i do?

i bourght a brand new computer and that very night the computer started to get into the habbit of turning itself off around every 5 minutes and after 2 different types of virus scans and sending error reports nothing is happening PLEASE HELP

my problem is when i turns my pc on after 5-10 seconds the monitor flick 3 times and turns off by itself when i press the NumLock button to turn off it is not responding but the cpu fan is still working and it takes an hour to turns it on again...why? and is there any possible solution for my problem?

hi, I just got finished upgrading a graphics card on my computer so i could play a certain game. My computer worked fine until i upgraded the graphics card and now, my computer last about 30 seconds after i turn it on, and then a "no input sign" appears on my monitor, and then the monitor goes completely black. The wierd thing is that the computer stays on because i can hear the fans still running, so i have to hold the power button until it turns off. I have been dealing with the problem for a while and i am very curious as of what is going on. Hopefully you can help.

I have the same problem. My computer restarts without warning after booting or sometimes after 5 mins or 10 mins. Sometimes after 30 minutes. My motherboard is just 2 months old

hello leo, my pc is shuting down by itself and takes at least 3 hours to get it turn on back cause it can't on before 3 hours. what is going with my pc..its a brnd new pc that i baought 4 months ago... i even brought it to the nearest computer shop and they told me to change my power supply which i did, and still have the same problem...please help me..thank you in advance.....
