I can't play a game. It says I need a directx 8.1 or above to be able to play. I downloaded it and installed it and everything, but the directx file is empty, and I still can't play the darn game.
Posted by: help me at September 1, 2005 9:33 AMI'm running a Windows 2003 server in a Citrix environment and my DirectX is corrupt. I ran the DX test link given by Microsoft -- http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/samples/author/filter/AlphaImageLoader_0.htm -- and my Internet Explorer crashed while the page was opening. Unfortuantely, I need to use IE because the WebConference service that I am trying to join requires me to use that browser.
I called Microsoft - no help. I called Citrix - no help. Do you have any ideas?

Posted by: koolhur at November 27, 2005 7:52 PMDear Sir,
Rightnow, My PCs have DirectX 9.0b
I can't install DirectX 9.0c.
How can i uninstall DirectX 9.0b ?
Please help me
Thank you very much.
Posted by: Anchanar at December 3, 2005 10:00 PMwell people about installing directX 9.0c I've found the solution:
You need both the 9.0b and 9.0c full versions. both around 30Mb each. Unzip both to respective temp folders. then copy and paste the following from 9.0b to 9.0c:
dxsetup
dsetup32.dll
DSETUP.dll
next you need a direct x uninstaller. i used dx eradicator from majorgeeks.com, bu there are plenty around
once done simply run dxsetup in the 9.0c version (which would be the one you copied before right) and it will install using the files from the folder it is in. and there you go you have installed directx 9.0c.
Check the dxdiag, and you'll se that now your version of directX is 9.0c! The only problem is that I still cannot run Age of Empires 3, cause there's a window saing:
Direct3D initialization failed. Possible causes:
Old or corrupted graphics driver.
Direct3D improperly installed.
Hardware acceleration disabled
So can anyone help
Thanx...
if u cant play sims 2 because u cant install directx 9.0c (the instaler finishes very quickly but u still have the formal version), this is how u fix it:
the problem is service pack 2 (SP2). so if u format your PC, install windows with sp1, install dx9.0(it should work) then upgrade to SP2.
it`s 100% sucses
try it
You can try DirectX Happy Uninstall, url: www.superfoxs.com
