How can I uninstall Directx 9?

i was trying to install and play an old game that i had found the other day, and of course, i get crashed out of the game everytime i run it. so i ran dxdiag.exe and found this:

Several files (ddraw16.dll, ddraw.vxd, ddhelp.exe, etc.) are missing! You should reinstall DirectX to put them on your system.
Several files (d3dim.dll, d3drm.dll, d3dxof.dll, etc.) are old versions, which could cause problems. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

so then i proceeded to attempt to update my directx and i installed 9.0c, and afterwards the same message still occur, does anyone know why?

im running winxp sp1

Since directx is a microsoft thingy all you can do is swear a lot and smack you screen a few times.

SOS Same Old S**T, XP SP2

Directx Uninstall using Directx Eradicator, works very well, sets things back to Directx 8.1 with the XP OS Installation CD.
I can't re-install DX 9.0c. AntiVirus and Firewall Disabled , Installation Completes, Components are ready, Version 9.0c doesn't show up anywhere.
Start / Run / Dxdiag / Version 8.1
Question: Have any ideas why DX 9.0c won't re-install after Eradicator?
I will trying Eradicator in Safe Mode, Restart/F8

When I install directx 9.0b from windows update site http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/no/default.asp
is seems to install properly. I don`t receive any kind of failure/problem message. However it doesn`t seem to be installed. When I reboot and go to windpows update, the file is still listed as need to be installed.
When I clik start, run, Dxdiag - I see that the version I have on my computer is direct x 8.2815
Any idea what the problem might be ?
i need version 9.0 to play the sims 2.

I`m running xp home edition.

The directx 9.0c downloaded from microsoft won't re-install after Eradicator...and the sims 2 don't work :( Help!!!

I am having insane probelms with DirectX9.

I just got the Sims 2, and I went to download the required DirectX9c (I've got 9b) and during the instalation it kept giving me the error message "DirectX did not copy a required file". Over and over again. I couldnt find a way to uninstall DirectX9, so I went through and removed all pieces of DirectX 9.b from my system and tried to re-install it, and that didn't work, it wouldn't let me re-install it, it said it was already there. What should I do, I am getting sooo annoyed?

I've got a Windows98.

i have the ssame problem, i just got sims 2 and i installed directx 9.0c and it says it is not there. what should i do?

I also have the sims 2 and it acts like 9.0c isnt installed, I ran dxdiag.exe and well.... it says 9.0b is installed, whats up with that? Somebody please help me!
