this is totally screwed.... the best that we can hope for now is a patch within the next week or two to fix this issue...given that microsoft and lucasarts are aware of the issue
it is also possible that they dont give a shit
and therefore we are screwed ...totally screwed

my OS is windows XP pro with sp2.
HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF A GeForce MX4000? Well, I bought one today to play the Sims 2, and when I check it on my computer (under 'dxdiag') it says the card I have is a RIVA 128...something or another. It is ticking me off. THEN I went to the support site for the card (its NVIDIA but the site on the box was www.xfxforce.com) and when I looked up my purchase code it says that its a GeForce4...?? the purchase code is PV-T98L-QYH7 (on the website the last 4 digits say NA). Anyway, the point is that now I am SO CONFUSED b/c I dont even know what kind of card I have or if it works w/ the Sims and it still gives me that popup when I try to start the game that says it cannot find a compatible card for directX9.0, I have that, and also on dxdiag it says that i need to upgrade my card (which I have done over and over again) because it will not run direct3D. I am really confused now! If anyone knows anything (about what to do or the videocard) please let me know. I really appreciate it.
Posted by: rosa at October 10, 2004 5:24 PMI have installed the Sims 2 and everything, but then when i was done installing and ready to play it said:Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c has been installed on this system. The application will now terminate. I don't know what to do. I've tried going on the internet and downloading DirectX 9.0c, but it doesn't do anything, I just get the error message again! If any one has any suggestions...let me know!
