No solution, but just a comment:

I also have this error code and it first appeared after using Outlook Express!

I suspect that somehow OE is the cause for this error message!

Another small update:

I have disabled Norton Internet Security and now I can log in with MSN messenger.

Seems like a firewall/Norton problem, but I´m no real computer expert.

Any inputs Leo?

Thanks!

Lars

Found it!

For those of you using Norton Internet Security, under Norton Internet Security go to:

#) "Personal Firewall"

#) click on "Configure"

#) click on the tab called "Program control."

and then scroll down to where it says "MSN Messenger."

Under "manual program control" locate MSN Messenger.

In the "internet access" collumn make sure that ít says "permit all." If not, change it by left clicking on it!

MSN messenger should work now.

Lars, you beat me to it :-). In response to your first post I was going to mention that if turning off your firewall resolves the issue, then you should be looking at how to configure your firewall to let MSN Messenger through.
