Thanks! I had looked elsewhere to no avail and FINALLY got a clear and successful answer here. Worked beautifully, with every folder recreating itself with all its messages.

Hello this worked really well first time - after a few unsuccessful attempts trying to follow other people instructions. Thank you very much

Hi, These instructions were very useful. However, I am now trying to change from Outlook Express to regular Outlook and need to copy my e-mails and addresses over. Can you help? Many thanks in advance.

Outlook has an import function. Look into that.

My new machine has Vista(windows mail),will I still be able to transfer the folders?

Posted by: RCSharples at March 23, 2009 6:32 AM

I was able to move all of my Outlook Express folders to my new computer except for the sections of the address book that were in a sub folder under main identity's contacts. The csv file only took the contact in the main file. There are at least another 300 contacts left in the sub folders. Please help - what do I do?

The folder with outlook files is hidden. How do I unhide so that I can get to them and do the copy? I own this home computer, so it's not like I am restricted by network administrator at work or something. thanks.

View hidden files is a setting in Windows Explorer. This article includes it: How do I get Windows Explorer to display details by default?

i am trying to move my outlook express data into Windows Live Mail. But when i get into the import section and click on "Microsoft Outlook Express 6" and then "Next", i dont get the option for "import mail from an OE6 store Directory"
What should i do?
If i try to directly pick data from the hard disk, (where i have saved my original files), it does not work.
pls advise
