What email program do you use?

This is a follow up to my message posted on Oct. 5th regarding the error "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open." I received help from MS Tech support and was told to rename the Folders.dbx file located in the OE Store directory (see above for how to locate this) to something like Folders.old or a name of your choosing. Try the import into OE again after this and you should see your messages.

I followed your instructions and exported files (from a windows 98 computer) and imported them to a (Windows XP) comp. Worked beautifully! until I realized that the new comp had only imported headers and the body of the messages were all blank. HELP! what have I done wrong? How can I retreive the text within my messages?

I have Outlook Express on my old machine and Outlook on my new machine. I've already moved the address books and have been successful. How can I move my personal folders from Outlook Express to Outlook?

Outlook also has an Import/Export menu item that will import Outlook Express messages.

Thanks, Imoved my Outlook express and contacts from my desktop (XP) to my new laptop (XP) and it worked like a dream. I did have to go in and change the defaults on both computers to show hidden files.

I am trying to move my outlook express 5.0 (windos 95) files from an old machine on to a new one using XP (2002). I have tried importing these into outlook but am unable to do so, I get an error saying it is being used by another profile. Do I have to use outlook express 6 on the new machine instead and is the process of importing all the mail files etc easy enough?
