The ARIN link in the article you just commented on would be where I'd start.

Melissa,
You can send an email to the hotmail contact for abusive emails but in reality if the person is not a hotmail user (it is very easy to forge an email) then you are stuck. there is no easy way to find her. you can look at the tags at hte start of the email (you may need to forward it to another email address to pull all the information about that out) but again these tags will only give you a little information to track the person down if they dont know a great deal of how the interenet works. i suggest you search on tracking spam in google and go from there. this will give you information on gleeming the tag information and tracking a user down.

To find out a person through their IP address, check out this site: http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html

This is a tracking program.

To find the IP address of someone who just sent you an email, follow the steps listed below:

1. Open your hotmail account
2. Go to Options
3. Be sure that its clicked on mail on the navigation bar
4. Click on Mail Display Settings
5. Next to Message header, choose Full

Now open the email of the person that you want to know there IP address and just above there message(mail) the email should be listed on top of the list. Then to find out were this person lives and some other information go to the website I just gave you in my other post which is: http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html
and enter there IP address, then you'll get the person.

I hope that this information will help solve your problems!
Good Luck

Once again, http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html will NOT, repeat NOT lead you to a *person*. It even states itself that it will identify the ISP that owns the IP address. If you need to get the *person* who owns that IP, you'll need that ISP's help, which is unlikely.

this link http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html shows how to track ip addresses and works for me each time . i track masqueraders and report them to their isps. u cant find the actual person but their isp can .

Just to let everyone know that are reading these posts. You can NOT track down who leased the ip address at a specific time unless you have a very good case and an judge orders the isp to give over there logs. Thats assuming that they still have the logs by the time the courtcases are done. If you live in Canada your going to have to have more money then the the recording industrys as they didn't even get the court order. Unless there has been death threats and the police are heavly involved then you will not be able to retrive this data. The only thing you can do is trace the ip to there isp or just compare the ips in the email that you have recived in the past.

"The Guy"? Hardly. If your information is correct you've narrowed it down to 65,536 possible "guys". All you did is find an ISP, which does NOT tell you who the individual at an IP address is.
