someone is now aware of my ip address, can he do any harm to my pc if the net connection is on????????
Posted by: vipul at July 25, 2006 1:18 AMOf course, if you haven't properly secured your computer. Start with this article: http://ask-leo.com/internet_safety_how_do_i_keep_my_computer_safe_on_the_internet.html
Posted by: Leo A. Notenboom at July 25, 2006 9:52 AMis there a way of determining the ip address of someone on msn ,yahoo or other chat software's.
If yes can you find the persons home address etc.
If your im goes direct from your machine to your buddies, you can get their ip address by doing netstat -a in a command window. That will show you all the addresses connected to your machine.
People, you MUST protect your PCs with a firewall (the Windows one at the very minimum, but it sucks), up to date anti virus, and spyware software (I like PCTools SpywareDoctor). An unprotected PC on the internet now gets taken over in less than 15 minutes! And you MUST patch Windows and all your applications.
Unless you do all of the above, it is as chancy as unprotected sex.

"how can we recover the ip address even if the profile had been removed from myspace"
Go to Cmd [Command System](Start/run/"cmd") Type netstat -n than Start file transfering with target or camera record. After 2 kb or more of your file or his has been downloaded type netstat -n again, check which IP is missing on first netstat -n you wrote.
Posted by: Entor at December 29, 2006 11:45 AMYou can find who own an IP address at http://www.ipgp.net , in some cases you will find the location of his ISP.
Posted by: Lucian at February 7, 2007 12:23 PM-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
But as I keep saying, the ISP is as close as you can get. You CANNOT
further determine the actual location of the IP address without the
ISP's help.
