If you read the article you'll see it may be listed in add/remove programs under another name. For example, "Download Receiver", again, as listed in the article.
Several prior comments also seem to indicate that running spybot search and destroy will clean it up. More on that here: http://ask-leo.com/spyware_how_do_i_remove_and_avoid_spyware.html

Posted by: Leo at March 28, 2005 2:01 PMI tried to download spyware things off the Stopsign webite and all i got out of them was virus's. I got half way through the download and all of a sudden icons started flashing on my computer. I ran a free virus scan called: Ad-Aware SE, its free you can download it off www.download.com and i found that e Acceleration was a virus and now its gone, my computer has been running better, ill never go to that site ever again.
Posted by: Joshua at March 31, 2005 7:28 PMI made the mistake of getting Stop Sign, and this malicious bit of trash still there after all my efforts to remove it, it left a file ascilayer.dll, which I cant seem to get rid of and its probly still somewhere in my registery, how do I erase this totally from my system?
Posted by: Ed G. at May 30, 2005 11:09 PMMy explorer was running slow, I have Windows 98 and also mcafee security center. So I ran spybot and it could not remove eacceleration because it said it was in use and running. It is nowhere on my computer that I can see and I have searched for it and never downloaded it. When I rebooted my computer and ran spybot and removed eacceleration then my privacy center with mcafee said I was missing an application and I could not log on to the internet at all. It was not until I used gateway goback and reverted my hard drive to put the eacceleration back on then my internet works but it is slow. i have called the mcafee help desk and eacceleration and neither have any idea what to do. Any ideas.

Posted by: kristen at July 10, 2005 8:26 PMwell I know for sure if you want to remove eacceleration or anything of theirs go to the eacceleration.com website and go to their live help link on the right side of the page and just ask them to help you uninstall it and they will it's actually pretty cool
Posted by: ron at July 16, 2005 3:35 PMI hate all that eanthology stuff its not good for ones computer.
My computer is infected and I could not remove it.
It is affecting my email also.
I clicked on their website and began downloading their Stopsign antivirus software, then got suspicious as I read their disclaimers and aborted the download. I instantly got CWS SP.dll malware installed which began infiltrating my system start up enries in the registry. Fortunately Spybot snagged them and I was able to stop the infection from spreading, but took some time to eradicate it totally. This is criminal! They advertize heavily on TV, especially CNN, and I don't inderstand why there isn't more noise about this trojan horse advertizing. I am contacting CNN tonight. It's outrageous!
Posted by: Tongaras at September 9, 2005 9:37 PMi made the mistake of downloading eAcceleration thinking it would help clean up other viruses, now its making more of them! It won't let me get rid of it and i dont have a "download reciever" in my add/remove programs list. Someone please help!
Posted by: Amanda at December 18, 2005 1:41 PMI purchased the eAcceleration package thinking this was a good AV defense. After reading this board, I'm very confused now. I know some spyware programs recognize eAcceleration as a form of spyware however I've ignored it. So is it or is it not spyware?
