Callum:
Thanks for the solution. I'm now going to show my lack of computer savvy. How do I go about uninstalling/re-installing a device driver? If you like, you can reach me at my e-mail which is listed above. (Or is there a website that explains this?)

My USB Ports are not recognising anything I plug in all of a sudden, I have gone into the device manager and uninstalled them all the ran scan for hardware changes, it detects the usb ports and tells me there are no problems with them yet it still wont find anything, I have tried the troubleshooter in the help centre but that was not a help either. What does this mean or what can I do? Please help me..........

I am currently running USB 1.0 on my old desktop. Can i install an additional PCI USB 2.0 host controller so that I could run my WLAN USB adapter (USB 2.0)?

Thanks
Ash

Well Mr Leo I think your are doing a great job here but there same to be a million dollar question that you are not answering. What is the solution to this usb drives not appering in my computer although they appear in the disk management console. This problem have been repeated by many people but you,ve not answered any of them. If this problem is out of context here please at least say so. Thanks
