I found out on a web... it works for me
to uninstall Windows Live Messenger, click Start, then Run if using XP, then type/paste the following and press Enter:
msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C}
To Alex: My Webcam would not work with the latest version. I unistalled it thanks to you and reinstalled an older version.. Everything is working smoothly..

I had uninstalling problems with many softwares until I found out about revouninstaller freeware utility. Good freeware utilities are really rare and this one is a real gem from a respectable source. It even finds out leftovers (sometimes deliberately omitted in normal uninstallers supplied with software which makes you wonder).
I used MS supplied messenger uninstaller, a "zapmessenger" utility and in its deep clean mode and revo still found some leftovers. It also has a beautiful GUI that can supply info such as install and registry locations, connect to web for info and updates, etc.
Highly recommended for all...
EVERYBODY QITH THE WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER 9 PROBLEM; NOT BEING ABLE TO UNINSTALL; GO TO RUN AND PASTE "msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C}" WITHOUT THE SPEECH MARKS. HOPE IT HELPS, WORKED FOR ME.

If you can't UNINSTALL Windows Live version 8.1 or 9 or whatever, or can't re-install old version because it says new version is still in the system, then you must download a program name ZapMessenger. Open it, push START in the icon button and it will remove anything has to do with Windows Live, then you reinstall which ever Windows Live version you desire, but I think Windows Live 8.5 to 9 don't work on some Windows XP with SP2. Goodluck everyone & I hope you can copy and paste this into other forums to help them. Thanks
