I am having similar rpoblems with my HP laptop running GeForce Go5700 video card. I've repaired Windows XP and was finally able to change the display mode from 640x480 (8 bit) but can't boot with out going into safe mode. During repair sequence my video display flashed repeatedly. I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, etc. and am running out of ideas... monitor is set to default ,,, Thanks, Leo!
