I cannot delete e-mail messages after I have read them and no longer want them. I have tried the delete under edit; I have tried Control and The D on the keyboard. I used to have a toolbar with a delete button, but the whole toolbar disappeared, so using that delete option is out of the question. I'm sure there is a simple solution, but what is it? I can still send and receive e-mails, but now I have 297 e-mails piled up because I cannot delete them. Please help.

Bob Rankin web site directed me to you as expert on Outlook Express. I was backing up OE folders, and stopped at the point of selecting all files for copy to CD. Going back to OE, the folders are gone, and I cannot locate them. Please help?

HELP!!! I run a business at home and have lost 2 folders in Outlook Express that I had created. Can't find them anywhere. I downloaded RegCure and did the scan and fixed the errors but that did not help. Hopefully you can tell me what to do. These are emails that I have saved over the past 3 years.

I have read yours and numerous other articles but still cannot seem to restore my outlook express. It keeps telling me "the address book isnt installed properly" and yet i keep trying to update, re-install everything and no luck! I cannot mail OUT of express because of the address book error.

What i did was highlight and delete the address entries one day, so i could just copy my current outlook express address book from my desktop (this is laptop, sony vaio) to this computer, instead of importing and creating repeat entries.

I just want to start over with express but windows update says i have no updates available and i am stuck. Any help for me??

Thanks!!!

beginning March 3, 2008 I began having trouble deleting emails. When I hit "delete" the mail disappears but within a few min. I receive the message in my in box IN MULTIPLE. The last time I attempted, instead of hitting the X I went to the "deleted items" folder and pressed "empty deleted items". Now my email has about 80 emails attempting to come in but it usually times out. Any suggestions?

My father-in-law has been using outlook express for several years. Yesterday he noticed that several of his personal folders were empty. It seams to be random, but all of the emails in an affected folders are missing. Yet, some folders are intact. I’ve looked at the “stored” files and the folders are empty there as well. Unfortunately he has not backed up his email. We’ve read the Microsoft article and compacted the folders to find that nothing has changed. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a work colleague who also faced a recent problem on some missing folders from Outlook Express.

When comparing the system folders in Outlook Express and the folders revealed by a free File Recovery Program, it showed that those missing folders were deleted but still remained in the Outlook Express system folders.

I attempted to recover one folder to check the contents, with the help of another paid software to recover corrupted .dbx files. It seems the contents of the .dbx file do not belong to the expected contents of the folder.

I suspect that this is a serious problem with Outlook Express 6.
