YES YOU CAN!
Get Messenger Plus Live! Add On
http://msgpluslive.net/
With that installed go into it's preferences and select "Polygamy".

Account Polygamy
Just check a box in the preferences of Messenger Plus! Live and you'll be up and ready for signing-ing into more than one Messenger account at the same time. No need to patch any file or use other Messenger clients anymore!

Hopefully LEO will amend his reply with this info!

Actually, you can run two versions of MSN simulataneously. There is the original (or at least, extremely old) version of MSN which is on the computer unless you delete it manually. You can run this and any other newer version that you may have at the same time. You cannot, however, be logged in as the same account on both MSNs, you will be logged out of one if you log into it on another computer/msn.

One thing you can do to run 2 msn at once, or more if you really want, is to download a program called A-Patch. there are several versions here:

http://www.msgshit.com/downloads/cat/MSN%20Patches

And it's pretty self explanitory. A freind of mine said that he had 3 running at once, which i guess is possible... but kind of useless i guess?

(It is possible to adjust the registry to run multiple versions of messenger on startup but for the inexperienced just re double click the messenger icon - NOT the taskbar one)

Select the "Messenger" tab and check the "Multiple accounts" option...

You can run TWO msn messengers. First way. You can install msn messenger 7 and also use the msn messenger provided with xp. granted this version that came with xp does not have half the functionality and features of 7. but if you just need to chat. you can.

other way is install version 7 first and search the internet for an older version. (per perhaps version 6.0) try using and installing some olderversion that will allow you to use msn.

theoretically they should not detect 7 if its an older version and install.

Third way is how LEO described. using many different third party messengers.

Well, without getting into details why you can't run 2 times the MSN instant messaging software... YOU DON'T HAVE TO.... and yet, YES you can have a double MSN presence.... with 2 different MSN identities/passwords (I guess this is what you want to do) one for friends/family/work1 and the other for work/work2
Use the MSN are normal with passport1 and user your passport 2 en the MSN web version... or download Trillian (which is what I do)

This is true and if you have deleated the version of messenger that comes with Windows XP you can re-download it from the Windows Update Website.

go to http://www.asdfuae.tk/ it has a 3rd party program that enables you to run 2 versions of messenger at once. the only problem at the moment is that his site is down due to too high of a data transfer for his account type, but if you wait it should come online/he will upgrade his account. i have no previous experience with the program, i am just going by reviews posted on mess.be. speaking of which if you go to http://www.mess.be/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=category&id=14 there are more programs that add the ability to install 2 versions of msn at once
