i wanna delete some contacts from msn messenger.. but dey r still on my privacy tab in block list.. i cant seem 2 delete dem permanently.. ive deleted them from my hotmail accounts address book .. reinstalled messenger but dey reappear.. wat if i reinstall windows .. is dere a way?

Freestyle: it depends on how long it's been closed. They keep it around for a little while, and I'm not sure if they bounce messages immediately or not. Certainly eventually they will, but how long that takes I don't know. ALSO be aware that if someone then creates an account using your old account name, they'll start getting that email.

hi, i was wondering if i close my hotmail account and someone emails me at that account will it bounce back to them saying something like there is no such account or account does not exist or does it not let them know anything the reason i am asking is because i just closed my sisters account that she did not want anymore and was trying to see if i sent her an email if it would bounce back to me telling me account does not exist and i had got nothing its been like 4 days now was wondering because my sister got so many people that might still email her there. thank you for your help

If you've deleted your account, then you can't login to your IM client with that account, so you can't get messages on that account.

i can't close my account.
i got to the help page,but when i click "take me there" (to get to the close account page) it opens a window with an address that immediately changed to "www.msn.com", so i can't access the close account page.

I just tried to delete a hotmail account and it is bloody annoying that you can't just switch it off or set up an automated message, so that everybody who does email gets a notification about the fact that you actually won't get their emails... Is it set up this way to make it harder to leave hotmail?

This would be great Leo, if it worked. I've tried multiple links to that "close account page" and it always just takes me to the main MSN page whether I'm signed in or not.

Hi there.
I helped my sister get a gmail account and then we sent her contacts in her hotmail account an email saying that her new email address would be example@gmail.com.
Then, the hotmail account is sending out the same message over and over and the people in the contact list are getting really annoyed. They received the same email over 20 times already. How on earth can we stop this?

Although it is better to stop signing into ur hotmail account, u can in fact close ur account manually. Go to www.passport.net and sign in there using ur hotmail address. Then by editting ur profile u can choose to close ur .net passport which in this case would be ur hotmail account(www.passpot.net->sign in->member sevices). Then after u contact hotmail in order to close it down u will be given the following message,

"By closing this account, you are marking your account inactive. Stored e-mail will be permanently deleted and inbound mail will be refused. Your .NET Passport will still function, and your e-mail name will be reserved.

To re-activate your account, simply go to http://www.hotmail.com and enter your Sign-In name and password. You will then be able to send and receive e-mail using MSN Hotmail once again.

If your account stays 'inactive' for over a period of 0 days, it will be permanently deleted. This delay is necessary to discourage users from engaging in fraudulent activity. Additionally, due to the limited number of names available, we may allow other users to sign up for and use your current e-mail name after your account has been permanently deleted."

Confirm "close my account" and that should close down ur hotmail account.
