Leo, I lost the My Computer icon [XP] years ago and have NEVER been able to get it back. Everything you suggest has been tried, not once but several times including "Restore Default." Repair of the XP installation has been done a couple of times, but still no My Computer. This is a tough one, and I don't want to reinstall XP from scratch. Any other tricks? Hope you can help. Do have a laptop with XP pro on it and that has the icon.

Defrag can also be found in Programs/Accessories/System Tools, where Disk Cleanup also resides. One should, IMO, run Disk Cleanup before defragging anyway.
