HELP!
I (hehe) managed to press the wrong download, so I downloaded the Messenger beta ( I couldn't remove it) So, I deleted all the files , and two files didn't wanna go!
It was custsat.dll and a program named WLMVS.exe (i think) .
I CAN'T REMOVE THEM!
So I can't install a new messenger! :(
Help please?!

Umm i have windows vista.. and i installed windows "9 beta" and now i cant uninstall it... it doesnt even show up on my programs and features in control panel! PLEASE HELPPP MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I've not even heard of Windows 9 Beta (in general you should always avoid Beta software unless you really know what you're doing. You may have to reinstall Windows.

While its trying to unistall I get this error:

I have by mistake deleted the msn removal file when I tried to delete the whole thing after it refused to uninstall.

Hi! I have vista, and i installed the WLM 9 beta and i have been trying to uninstall it.

I couln't find it in control panel>uninstall programs either so I tried the msiexec/x posted by smith, but then a box appears saying "this is only valid for currently installed programs"!!!

How can it not be installed when it's working, but most importantly, what do I do to uninstall it then???

You can manually uninstall Windows Live Messenger Beta (if you use Windows XP) by clicking the start button, then click "Run" and type this in the box.

It worked for me. I'm not sure if it works for Vista.

i need to get hotmail out of my system (vista), i have removed msn live mesenger from the add and remove programes but hotmail is still there. also when i loged on to hotmail it always came up with an error has ocured, any more tips please.

Actually, the option in Add/Remove Windows Components there in Add or Remove Programs will
just remove the shortcut -- it'll still stay around.

To properly and completely remove Windows Messenger 4.7, you'll need to click the Start
button, then click Run and enter:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then click OK.

I have gone to my add or remove programs and my windows live messenger is not listed. Since I did not put this on my computer I am unaware of the circumstances it was downloaded in. I have deleted anything to do with MSN in my add or remove programs. Nothing is listed under windows. I have disabled something labeled messenger under my computer, yet the icon is still there. Hi. I'm running the Vista OS, and I am trying to uninstall Windows Live Messenger, and every time I try to, whether through the Control Panel, or CCleaner, I get a Fatal Error. The screen that occasionally pops up says 'Cannot Find key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Mediaplayer\{0076F107-F5A6-404B-7027FA6EAADD}'

And more recently, it has been popping up with: "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C: Windows\Installer\Install_{508CE775-4BA4-82DF-FE28DA9F03MB0}.msi"

I'm also getting 'You don't have permission" errors, and yet i'm the Admin.

i have tried uninstalling msn messenger 7.5 from my 'add remove programs' and it does not uninstall, i recieve a message that says 'this path package could not be opened. verify that the patch exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patcch package.' i downloaded 'Uninstall Plus 3.2' and even the it did not uninstall. I went back to 'add remove programs' and msn messenger 7.5 is still on the list, yet, there is no option for removal anymore.
I have tried to install the newest version of windows live messenger but that will not unstall be cause it is still finding components of the old messenger in my computer. seriously this is getting annoying

google windows live installer clean up installer.
I downloaded that. I then manually took out windows live messenger, and windows live agent or something like that.
Then I sent to add remove and took out one windows live thing that was left.
I GOT RID OF THAT windows live messenger that I could not delete or run.
I wanted messenger so tried to install msn messenger 7. It told me I had to upgrade to install . I did so and got back windows live messenger but at least now it WORKS.

Please post back if this works for you.

My daughter used my laptop and went on her window live messenger..now everytime I open my outlook express e mail all her contacts come up in my contact list for e mail. I would like to uninstall it but I can't find a icon in add and remove programs. I was going to follow your instructions on removing Windows Messenger, but it appears your instructions are INCORRECT. According to my XP, it says that unchecking Windows Messenger will only remove ACCESS to this program thru the start menu. This statement is further supported by the fact that it also indicates that it takes up "0.0 MB" of space. If I was removing the actual component I don't think it would be 0MB in size!

I have 2 icons in bottom right hand corner. One for Windows Live (which I want) and one for Windows Messenger (don't want). Not sure how I got both. Followed directions to unistall Windows Messenger....didn't work.
