Hey guys, just wanted to point out that on some systems, there is a jumper cable on the motherboard. If you take it off, start off the system then put it back once it's started, it will reset all passwords

Hacking Windows XP Login Password

Hack Admin Password from user mode.

i personely do not recommend this, becuase if you will change admin password when he will come to know he can create problems for you or else he will format and reinstall...but if you want you can

follow these steps:

1. Open command prompt, type Start -> Run -> cmd and press enter
2. now type compmgmt.msc and press enter
this should open the computer management console.
3. Go to local users and groups -> users. right click on any user and select "set password".
if you get a "access denied" do the following.

Start -> run --> cmd

then use following commands.

1. net user test * /add (This will make a user have name "test"). note by typing * you will require to enter password.
2. now type
net localgroup administrators test /add (This command will make test user as administrators rights).

or if you already have an account but you want to give admin rights then only try second option.

and use net user command to reset you admin password if required.

if you do not know admin password but want to change or hack then do the below

1. Start --> Run --> cmd (This will open your command prompt).
2. type
net user (press enter)
3. type
net user windowsloginid * (Press enter)

now it will ask you for new password just enter new password and confirm, note the cursor will not move but blink, it will work and change the password..

In case you didn't know, Windows XP pro REQUIRES that administrator account have a password.
It is a box during install.

ALSO, people with home edition can also set a pass for administrator, albeit it is harder.

here is a tip for using windows even when activation timeis up activation settings nobody i have seen has done it
here is how
1. it is really simple and doesn't require much effort
2. after 30 days you cannot get into your computer wihtout activating it here is how
3. logon as normal and a prompt saying you copy of windows must be activated just mimimize it.
4. hold the windows key and press u
5. the narrator for disabled people will come up
6. click on the microsoft website and then you can get into your computer but wait thats not good enough you need your start menu and all.
7. type in control panel.
8. go to internet options and click on the settings by delete cookies, click view files and a error will come up click ok then when you do that your start menu will come up allowing you to run your programs run normally just don't close out internet options or the start menu will hide itself you can use it for about 5 min i am still working on making it stay for permant use.

well have any of you ever tried to just remove the password from your user? if you go to "run" in your start menu, and then type in "control userpasswords2". this will bring up an interface that lets you do all sorts of fun stuff with the passwords of the users on the computer your on.

course none of this helps if you cant log on, but even in that situation, just log into safe mode. hope this helps...

I have a very important machine with XP PRo and did some tweaking with system mechanic this am and now it won't let me logon
single user machine and never even assigned names or passwords before....think I know the name that was popping up but actually never even had the logon screen until a week or 2 ago when I made some other change

administrator passwords are easy to get by. i cant recover a password but i can change it to whatever i please. there is a program called erd commander that handles that with ease. you burn the program to a CD(it must be bootable) turn on your pc go into the bios and have it boot from cd. your pc will load the erd commander eviroment it is windows like evironment and you go into the start menu just as in windows and find the locksmith tool. from there you will pick the account you want to change the password to enter the new password and reboot.
just to let you know the program comes in a suite called winternals admin pak and its very pricey. like 1000 dollars a few years ago but worth every penny if you administer tons of equipment and your job could be on the line

as for you jaimin this occurs when your computer goes into standby it actually starts an .exe (the name has left my head right now) the exe forces the computer into standby until you try to open it again with the password however the pw is usually not put into the exe unless done manually..anyways another way to get around that is to set your computer not to go into standby in the power options,and you might even be able to set the pw to get there right click on the desktop and hit properties then go to screensaver and click "Power.."

Try starting the computer in safe mode with command prompt for XP this means pressing F8 while computer starts however if your admin accnt has a password and you dont know it please email me at joshuau@gawab.com and ill help you recover it in another way

I'd just gotten my laptop back from repairs at Comp USA when I had the the above discussed password problem occur. It wasn't a matter of me forgetting the PW, I've used the same one daily for years. Of course, when I called the repair center in a panic, Comp USA says they had nothing to do with the problem. Huh- worked for me right there at the counter when I dropped it off, but not when I got it home.

Anyway, I just had the problem fixed by my totally NON techie husband (of course, his was the last suggestion I tried- it was so silly, it was literally my last resort) So easy. I typed in my user name, left the password field empty, and hit enter. Amazingly, everything loaded just fine. Sure wish I'd tried this first!!

I have a Dell Inspirion Running XP 2
The Notebook is 2.5 years old and has never had a problem

I did it and it worked.

One thing I whould like to say though.

the article says:

At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.

ok when i typed that in it gave a wierd error, i dont remember what is was because it was a while back so instead i did it an alternative and more effective way.

instead type: net user [your username here] *
so if your username was tom you whould type:

net user tom *

then it asks you for a new password, be carefull when you type as it wont show you anything not even asterkis. then confirm.

continue with the repair and you should be able to login with no problems.

Sorry, I need to add something.

once you've logged on as admin from safe mode, go to user accounts in the control panel, click your admin account and delete password. Reset PC to normal, everything should work.

To keep yourself safe in the future, go to user accounts (if you're admin that is) and click your name. to the left of you, there should be a related tasks option there, in that menu, select "Prevent a forgotten password" have a formatted floppy handy and create the disk.

To use the disk, simply get to your logon screen, hit enter, the "did you forget your password" box should show, in this box, select "use your forgotten password disk" place your floppy in the drive, click next, and type a new password. Simply logon again with the new password.

Okay, I disagree with this article in full. "There is nothing you can do.", "You might want to use bootable Linux disc", and so on. Yeah, a bootable Linux disc is rad, and there is lots you can accomplish with that. However, you can infact retrieve your windows password from a locked down account. Some ways of doing this involve dumping the windows hash (using one of any variety of tools) and then running that hash through Lopht Crack or JohntheRipper. Another great appraoch is to use the windows administrator password reset tool that you can find simply by searching google for a few minutes. This will allow you to set your Administrator password to something else. Why would you boot up with a linux disc (or other) and copy all your data off over a silly password? That shouldn't even be a suggestion unless prompted with the question of whether it is possible. Anyway, I am ranting and it's probably rude of me to do so, but anyone who reads this deserves to know there are other ways to bypass a forgotten password on a locked down system.

I have computer with windows 2000 Profesional, The computer is hardly ever used. I decided to turn it into a server but cannot remember the username and password. My Dell XPS233's hard drive was partitioned with Partition Magic some years ago. Yesterday I used the same programme to merge the 2 partitions. The computer worked fine for hours. Today, on switch-on, Windows is demanding a password, which it never needed before. Pressing Esc. tells me that the password facility is not in use! But the computer wont pass this point. Anyone any idea how to get past this point?
I haven't lost a password, there never was one!

resetting windows 9x passwords is easy. simply press escape when asked to login. it will show you a desktop and let you access the local machine but will not be logged onto the network. now go to a command prompt and DELETE the *.PWL files for the usernames you want to reset from c:\windows. Then logout. Now you'll be able to login as admin with a blank password.

Is there any way to recover/remove Windows 98 network administrator login username and domain info as well as remove the password? My Operating system won't start unless I log into my network and I don't have my username, password, or domain info. Is their a default setting to the network username and password or is it my dial up username and password or did I have to make a new network username, password, and domain before it activated this crap that I can't log on? Hello all.
My computer profile has dissappeared from the active directory users and computers cpu account and I can no longer log on to my network account. When I try to logon to my local machine I am told that my account and the admin account are both locked out. So i can`t get onto my network OR my local machine.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can gain access to my computer without having it rebuilt?
Any help would be appreciated.
