help me plz the problem is that the old hotmail that i had was great i was able to see my new messages that i recievd however now when ever i log into my new hotmail messenger 6.2 it does not show me any new messages that i may have recieved. it also shows on my main screen when i log into my computer that i still have 5 unread messages and this does not seem to go however i no that i have read all my messages. and this is driving me crazy what should i do help!!!!!

Every time I access my hotmail account directly from my messenger, the page loads but it is frozen. I can see that i have new email messages, but cannot click on them or anything else on the page. hi there ive got a problem with my msn messenger 7.0 sometimes randomly when im talkin to my friends it suddenly signs me out. and when i sign back in again after couple of mins it happens again. it normally happens around like 5-6 times a night or more if sumthings wrong with it. ive uninstalled and reinstalled msn messenger like 10 times and still no change and now its really frustrating me. please help me.

I have been trying to log on to hotmail for the last few days now. i enter my sign in address and then it takes me to 8 characters i have to eneter what i see, after i do this it takes me back to my sign in and it keeps repeating the same thing over and over again...how can i just get into my account?

Hey,
My MSN 6.2 (also Windows Messengers) seems to have gone nuts! Whenever i log in it says there is an upgraded version availible, do you want to download? It would kick me out if i say no. If i choose to download, it would install MSN 7, only to come up with same problem again. I had actually fixed this problem once but my system got formatted and i lost it.

Hello all, I have a problem with my MSN. Originally I had 6.2 then when I'd try to talk to a friend of mine it wouldn't work... So I installed 7.0, this didnâ€™t fix the problem. I stay connected for about five minutes then (certain people's) conversation windows close and when I try to open them again they blink on then off. hello, im havin troubles with the new msn messenger verison 7.0.. ive read that it now allows up to 300 contacts from the standard 150.. last week i had around 149 contacts and then when i went to add a contact it told me my contact list was full, i deleted it down to around 50 but it still wont allow me to add anymore contacts.. anyone can help? i tried re installing it but no help, i scanned for spyware and viruse;s but nothing either.. help! :/

okay this is getting gay, I NEED HELPPPPPPPPPP!, like seriously, i really want msn 6.2 cuz i hate 7.0 and its not letting me have 6.2, i did have 6.2 before, but its saying i have to download the newest version and taht 7.0, uggggggghhhhhhhhh!!
7.0 makes my computer go rly slowwwwww!
and in the repair thinger for 6.2, its saying i have to find "msnmsgs.msi'" and i dont know how to find that.
I RLY NEED HELP, i need msn 6.2 on my computer:(:(:(::(:(:(, Ahhh

I accidently log off my account on XP "start+L+L" and when I went to turn msn back on, it just keeps locking up. Freezes, doesn't respond and forces me to end task on it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing, and even removed it and installed MSN 7.0. But it is still locking up on me. Windows Messenger works fine but not MSN. Any suggestions...

I am having problem with MSN 7.0. I sign in and can see all of my contacts and mailbox but then if I try to click on anything it hangs and then finally tells me that it has to shut down becuase its not responding. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall but it doesn't work. Is it a problem with my computer or with the program. I've been running it fine for the last couple monthes.

I just starting get problems with 6.2. A box comes up stating to report error then messenger closes. Why does it do that? I had the same problem last Saturday when I install the full 7 version, the I unistall the full 7 version and install the 6.2. Until today I never had problems, but today I had the same problem.

I've recently solved a customers problem with MSN Messenger 6.2. There seems to be a compatibility issue of MSN Messenger 6.2 with the OS. So if 6.2 works fine with one of the OS's it might not work with the other OS versions.

The best way to solve this problems is to uninstall MSN Messenger 6.2 and install the MSN Messenger 5 or 5.1. It works perfectly fine, even with MS-Exchange Instant Messaging System.

I have the same problem and I now I can sign in to MSN Mesenger.
1) If you have Sygate Personal Firewall installed (wheter it is active or not), you MUST uninstalled it, then you can sign in to MSN Mesenger (after you update to v6.2.0205).
2) For "roman", if you use Lavasoft "Ad-Watch" please unload it or put it on monitoring off status before you install MSN Mesenger.

Dear Leo,

Whenever I open Outlook Express 6.0 to access my Hotmail, my MSN Messenger 6.2 icon automatically appears in my System Tray. However, when I attempt to exit MSN Messenger 6.2 from the System Tray,I receive the following message:

"There are other applications currently using features provided by MSN Messenger. You must close these before you can exit MSN Messenger. These applications may include Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN, MSN Explorer, Internet Explorer, and threedegrees."

Once I close Outlook Express 6.0, then I am able to exit the MSN Messenger 6.2 icon from the System Tray. However, is there a method by which I can disconnect MSN Messenger 6.2 from Outlook Express 6.0--but without uninstalling MSN Messenger 6.2 completely--so that it does not appear in the System Tray every time I run Outlook Express 6.0?

My System Resources run in the red whenever I open Outlook Express and MSN Messenger appears at the same time.

It is a waste of space, despite reading and trying every well-meaning solution MSN 6.2 is a load of crap. It just doesn't work, full stop.

Crap video, crap audio connection, signs me out every 5 mins, then decides to sign me back in despite the fact I don't have the auto sign in option enabled.

I give up, I tried screwing around with my router, my Norton Antivirus, Windows firewall....nothing works.....MSN Messenger can go to hell.

I have been forced to upgrade MSN Messenger from 6.2.0137 to 6.2.0205 - ok so far. Then I can get signed in no problem. However when I then reboot my PC, MSN Messenger then reverts to 6.2.0137.

I have tried uninstalling MSN Messenger 6.2.0137, clearing out all the temporary files, etc, but to no avail. Can someone please advise what is happening here and how to resolve this problem?

MSN, and MSN Instant Messenger (which are two DIFFERENT things) have nothing to do with DOS. Never did. DOS was never a part of Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The whole DOS thing here is a red herring.

since i was forced to download 6.2 to continue using my msn premimum service, I have not been able to use the service. I have been on the phone with msn and qwest my dsl provider where all I have gotten is a bunch of B.S.. while discussing with a computer tech , he told me that microsoft discontinued using DOS when they developed windows xp. said the purpose was to corner the market and force people to buy the up dated versions of windows. 6.2 is not working on older versions of windows because they operate on DOS.
My membership with msn is going to end unless they discontinue the garbage.
I have not been able to use my email account since and don't dare to use msn because the messenger tries to load and shuts down my pc.

Ever since I installed MSN Messenger 6.2, I have had a problem with my Outlook Import/Export function. When I select the Import/Export function under the File menu, all I get is a box that offers an Export function only and none of the numerous other options that are normally available in a drop down menu.

Any other PC users out there experiencing the same glitch?

I'm having a problem with MSN as well. It's not so much a dire issue as it is annoying. I find that when my account is logged off/logged back on, I have all these extra groups that existed months ago, and one person who was moved from these groups is now in all of them. If I delete the contacts and the extra groups, they're gone for the time being, but as soon as my account logs back in, they're there again!

Ack! What to do?

I have Windows 2000 Adv Server installed in my PC and MSN messenger 6.2 is not letting me sign in (tried reinstalling, but didn't work). Error messages: "There was a problem connecting you to MSN Messenger. Click Troubleshoot for help with this problem. Error Code: 0x81000370" OR " We were unable to sign you in to .NET Messenger Service, possibly because of a problem with service or with your Internet Connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet. 0x81000301. Click the Help button to check the current service status."
I could however use other messenger services(eg. Yahoo) without any problem.
My PC is in a network and every other computers could sign in to MSN but not this one. HELP!

Hi folks! All those having difficulties signing in, after mandatory download of Messenger 6.20205, I may have a work around.
Go to Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Program icon. Scroll down till you see Messenger 6.2 and highlight it. Then click remove button. A window will open with two options. Click on the "Repair Messenger" options and wait till the utility runs its course. Then click Finish. Then go to Programs on Start menu and click on Messenger 6.2 and you would be able to sign in. Only drawback is you must do this everytime you shutdown and reboot. This should hold you till Gate's boys fix the problem.

im having th same problems as some of you. i tried signing on and it told me i needed to upgrade msn 6.2 so i downloaded it but ever since then ive been having problems signing on. It keeps telling me that there was either a problem with my internet (which is impossible because im on broadband) or msn were having problems but they wernt as i chekced!

Ok, here's a solution for those of you running Norton Internet Security 2005 who are having troubles signing on to MSN messenger.
1.) Go into Norton Internet Security Firewall
2.) Go into "Programs"
3.) Then find "MSN Messenger" in the list of programs
4.) Left click the Internet Access for MSN messenger
5.) Choose "Custom"
6.) Click the MSN Messenger info in the Description box
7.) Choose "Modify"
8.) Choose "Permit"
9.) Hit OK
10.) Make sure the box is toggled next to the MSN messenger
11.) Hit OK again
12.) Hit OK again

That should fix the strange BLOCK setting that seems to be downloading with the new MSN messenger in Norton Internet Security.

When i try and use the webcam, it's all good until I change the white balance options so that I can actually be seen.

I uninstalled MSN 7 and reinstalled MSN 6.2 and still it is giving me the same error. I also tried windows messenger, too nothing worked. I tried Webmessenger and its website didn't open. It gave a data transfer error.

Well...on my msn it says that I'm not connected to the internet or i have runtime error or error code or trouble shoot...this is starting to happen quite abit...and from what i hear and including myself but this is making ppl mad...and msn should run like it used to...there were like no problems then. i think the error code 0x81000306 is a problem with the msn server, not with my or anyones computer. check the msn status pages, links are on this page. windows messenger wont work cos it uses the same thing, but WM sucks anyway (:
when it comes up with the error you can click for the troubleshooter, this is an automatic thing that comes up for most msn errors and doesnt necessarily mean this problem is at your end.
wait for a while and it'l come back, I wouldnt worry cos with the error code 0x81000306, if msn's down for you it will most likely be down for your contacts as well so your not missing out on chatting!!

Msn 6.2 won't let me sign in. i have tried it repeatdely and my internet connection is connected fully. Please explain what is going on. When i try to sign in it said this: we were unable to sign you into .NET messenger service, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet. 0x81000301.

Well, i haven't been able to work my msn account on my easy message, so then i downloaded the msn messenger 6.2 today, and it woudn't let me in, and it kept making all my other programs error. then i couldn't even uninstall it until i disconnected and restarted my computer. Boy, i hate when that happens.

I cannot log onto MSN Messenger. The problem has been on and off for the past few days but has been really bad today, Monday, February 7. This is the message I get: Server Error in '/' Application.

I cant get the audio to work on MSN messenger 6.2 - very frustrating! The website has been unhelpful. Can any one tell me how to uncheck the QoS Scheduler box as I`ve been told this might be the problem. It has been `greyed` out and i cannot get into it at all to uncheck it, the other boxes will let me do it, but not the QoS. I`ve bought a brand new PC with webcam installed and yet its useless with MSN.I have also tried AOL & Yahoo messenger - same problem, so i think it must be my fault somewhere. For over a month now my msn has been signing me on and off repeatedly. I have tried downloading 7.0 beta, 6.2, deleting both off my computer and reinstalling them. Yeah i'm having the same problems with msn, and i was trying to do the thing with the Norton security, but i can't find the "configure" part. Maybe it's because i have norton 2004 version but i'm not sure. Msn explorer, msn messenger nor web messenger sign me in. I'm having trouble setting up my webcam with MSN Messenger 6.2. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software (CamMaestro 4.0 AU) for the webcam, but as soon as I try to configure it in MSN Messenger, the entire program freezes. Found it!

For those of you using Norton Internet Security, under Norton Internet Security go to:

#) "Personal Firewall"

#) click on "Configure"

#) click on the tab called "Program control."

and then scroll down to where it says "MSN Messenger."

Under "manual program control" locate MSN Messenger.

In the "internet access" collumn make sure that ít says "permit all." If not, change it by left clicking on it!

MSN messenger should work now.

Another small update:

I have disabled Norton Internet Security and now I can log in with MSN messenger.

Seems like a firewall/Norton problem, but I´m no real computer expert.

Msn just isnt working! Whenever i try to sign in it says that the password and username are wrong when they arent. The passwords and usernames will work at several mates houses but will not work on here! Desperetly need to find out how i can get msn back as i urgently need it at the moment. OK i forgot to add this. TO GET RID OF PARASITES IF YOU HAVE ONE. You can pay money to get rid of it OR you can.......

Get your Windows 98 or 2000 or whatever disk. Run it. Do a Systems repair. It will Re-install everything thats in windows/system. To do a systems repair just basicly keep pressing yes to all the things you think got to do with repairing it. ( I have no idea how i did it i just kept doing yes ) Once the repair starts itll be about 30 minutes to wait until its done. when its done your computer will restart. Now the parasites should be gone. This also could repair shdoclc.dll but it didnt for me so i dont know...

Ok. The people who say that they can log in but only for 5 mins or those who say it only shows half your friends list then crashes or stuff like that isnt the same problem as the one i post just above this one. If it says that you have an incorrect password or trouble shooting but it all works on any other computer and that you cant log in at hotmail.com to see your mail its all cuz of a file called shdoclc.dll being currupt becuase you probably got a parasite from kazaa. Kazaa is full of parasites that create problems with dlls. Try going to control panel and pressing on add/remove programs. go to Internet Explorer program then click the Install button. It may ask you for a path to the installation program. Its in c:/programfiles/Internetexplorer/Setup/Setup.exe ok. Try that if it doesnt work then try and download a program that can repair dlls. i suggest PcMightyMax or PC Rescue.

I know why msn doesnt run! Its shdoclc.dll in C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll !!!

It pisses me off 2. Msn 6.2 doesnt work. I havent figured out how to repair it yet but reinstalling it doesnt work. Theres no way to replace the god-damn shdoclc.dll file becuase its always in use. Right now im looking for a way to repair it but the last 3 times ive tried have failed. shdoclc.dll May not be the same problem as most of you but if your problem is when you cant sign in on msn messenger or at hotmail its definetly shdoclc.dll!

I have downloaded messenger 6.2 however every time i try to start it my computer freezes and a small screen comes up saying it has a problem with internet explorer some kernell is missing etc and cannot continue. then my PC just hangs there I have to shut it down manually and restart it. while its starting if i can stop msn from starting its fine the computer starts up and everything is ok but the minute i try to open msn all the problems repeat again can anyone help me out here please

HI, I have a huge problem with my msn messenger. I somehow dowloaded a toolbar in my explorer that I can get rid of and I can't find the file it installed. A few months ago due to this I had to format my c: because It wouldnt let me use the explorer anymore, and I installed a messenger 6.1 NOw my mom installed the "updates" of the program and I have the whole problem back. The thing is it was a lot of money sending the computer to someone to format it, I was wondering if you could help me so I wont have to do it again. THanks, steph

My son and I are on 2 seperate computers I am trying to keep on tip of what he is up to on msn chat. I have his password to sign into his msn chat went into options and checked "keep a message history" the problem is when I go back into his msn to check his conversation off of my computer it says he has no message history even though the option is still checked. I also know he was chatting earlier. can you not monitor someones chat history from another computer? thank for the info!

Here's a fun one for you.
My MSN Messenger Version 6.2.0137 is doing the following. After a fresh reboot, when I try to sign into MSN using my work account at work, it will sign in with no errors, but after about 10 seconds, Messenger just closes completely. I can re-open messenger and try logging back in but it just does the same thing after about 10 seconds.
If I then log in with a different account, like my personal account, it logs in just fine and stays open. If I then sign out, and log back in with my work account, it will stay logged in just fine. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, complete uninstall and reinstall, and nothing so far has worked. thanks for the help ;)

Ok help please, this is very annoying

I have 6.2, but it will not work, after a few minutes (maybe even less) of being signed on it just shuts itself down, the icon still appears in the bottom right hand tray, until i move mouse over it then dissappears!!

I have to use version 4.7, and am worried that if i delete this version (4.7) and 6.2 does still not work then i will not be able to use anything.

I hope there is a cure for this problem.

It is making me very sick :(

If you get the error 0x81000306, it usually means one of the following:
- the MSN servers are down (as they have been this evening, or at least the ones I use for Messenger);
- you have a firewall or proxy prevented access... see your system administrator (this usually happens at work or school)

i am having the same problem logging on, but i noticed the other there was messenger5 running in background making run slow when ended it went throught (started).
i think (just a theroy) it was a virus if so it would over loading messenger, cant even get onto web messenger http://webmessenger.msn.com/default.aspx?R=1
If you are somewhere that locks messenger go to the link.
To see if you have the same prob as me,(xp) go task manger select processes tab the in task manger tool bar select and select colums, now tick PID (you should have a new column, to see what is running with ip addresses etc use command prompt type netstat -no.
now just match what is on command prompt with task manager (processor)

MY msn 6.2 is well crap!!
Am i the only person who has these problems.
everytime i send a message it does not send for about 20 second and freezes my msn for 20 odd seconds.
i've tryed to solve this but nothing seems to works.
I AM SO ANOYED BECAUSE ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR AGES!!!!!

My MSN Messenger 6.2 cannot seem to stay connected to the internet. Its also constantly freezing, and signs in and out all the time. I am currently using cable internet, got that checked out, was told it was fine. The Repair in Messenger 6.2 doesn't do anything.

i suppose problems began when i downloaded SP2, cause until then everything was working fine. Now after a few seconds, every time i login, MSN messenger 6.2 just blocks, gives me an error ( always the same ) and closes. here is the error signature : AppName: msnmsgr.exe AppVer: 6.2.0.137 ModName: shdoclc.dll ModVer: 6.0.2900.2180 OffSet: 00001043
i didnt put any technical info cause i don´t know where is the error and don´t know how to recognize it. thnx for any help

I have just downloaded the new MSN Messenger 6.2 and I am having a certain problem with it.
When I am chatting to someone, I write the message I want to send and when I press return it takes about 10 seconds to send.
I dont think its the speed of my computer because it is pretty quick.

For some reason, the "sign in" dialogue box of MSN Messenger 6.2 is appearing with "oblongs" where the word "sign in" should be? I haven't removed any fonts, so can't undertand why this has happened.

Ive had msn messenger 6.2 for over a month but lately I cannot log-in properly. I get to the sign-in box,I sign-in and suddenly the msn messenger box plus the icon on bottom of screen disappears in about 3 seconds without actually signing in. After I got the new messenger I can't click on links I receive in a chat and have them open in a browser.
I get the "hand" mouse icon suggesting it recognizes it as a link, but it doesn't activate it!

on my computer msn messenger won't let me sign in. it says that i may have typed an incorrect password or e-mail address but each are correct. I went on two of my friends computers and each time i tried on their computers, i was succesful and could sign in to msn messnger and my messenger account worked. I can´t connect to messenger for a week now. After clicking "Start session" and entering my password, the "starting session" icons appears for a while, then i go back again to the "click here to start session", as if I wouldn't have done anything. If I put a wrong password a get the wrong passord message, but with the correct password I go back to the begining.
When I try the same procedure, on the same computer, but with a different windows user session, MSN works correctly...
Any ideas on what's going on??? Thanks.

Over the past few years I have been connecting to my Messenger account through AOL but recently we installed a ADSL modem with a built in wireless router and this is not giving me access to my messenger Account.

I would like to know if anyone else on AOL has had this problem and if they were able to rectify it.

I have tried to find a solution on help lines which suggest I change my proxy settings but this has had no effect.

I had the problem of MSN signing in and out by itself. There was also another problem that OFFICE 2003 (OUTLOOK 2003) would not download emails properly or would download email it had already downloaded and get stuck at a certain point.

INTEL PRO Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION : Email does not download properly and/or stops downloading at various points but never downloads completely.

ANALYSIS : SMTP log analysis indicated that the connection between the server and the client dropped off regularly and was not stable
MSN traffic analysis showed the same thing.

SOLUTION : The problem was deemed to be the actual wireless connection. Windows XP can control your wireless connection through zero configuration. This causes the ip to change in response to changes on the network. It also is apparently quite unstable. Unchecking the Use Windows to configure my wireless connection settings checkbox, and forcing the LAN card to manage the connection solved both problems.

MY MESSENGER FIX:

I have had the same problem with messenger. Havent been able to use messenger for the past 2 months. Today I FINALLY solved it. I use ZoneAlarm and I had a feeling it was ZoneAlarm causing the problem. What I did was..tried to open MSN Messenger (as usual, got the error message) Opened up Zone Alarm "Alerts & Logs"--"log viewer". There was an alert at the time I had tried to open Messenger.

If you have ZoneAlarm this is what you do:

1. Try to open Msn Messenger (just to record alert on ZA)

2. Open Zone Alarm---> "Alerts & Logs"---> "log viewer".

3. On the "Log Viewer" page, click on (to highlight) the alert you just got when you tried to open messenger. Bottom right of the page, click on "add to zone"...you will have 2 choices "trusted" or "blocked".....choose "trusted"

After I did this, Opened messenger with NO problem!! Hope this helps

...same as everyone MSN messenger 6.2 simply does't work!!! every time I try logging in it displays a message "sorry, we could not sign you because the sign in name you entered does not exit or password is incorrect. If you have forgotten your password...reset it....error code 0x81000303" I already have a working hotmail account for long. I have already tried changing password...same message keeps coming. even disabling my firewall doesn't help, I have tried reinstalling it many time...but it simply doesn't work. The earlier version used to just run fine...I am regretting my decission to upgrade to the newer version!! any clues...why its behaving like this..

I can run yahoo messenger with voice just fine. MSN messenger with voice won't work, but MSN shows a connection for voice made and the little green thingy for the mic level shows as I speak. I"ve bypassed the router, firewall, and anti-virus. Any ideas? Oh yeah, UPNP is installed.

msn messenger 6.2 is a piece of s**t!! msn messenger 6.1 was great i had absolutly no problems!! 6.2 comes and it works great! then i sign in and it crashes everytime, i uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. wrote to msn customer services, they took 2 weeks to send me a reply! the day before the reply MSN MESSENGER suddenly starts working:S now everytime i sign in i get a message saying "msn messenger has accounted a problem and needs to close!! i followed the instructions on microsofts e-mail that i got sent, it still doesn't work! So now i am usin the useless "windows messenger" which really annoys me!

anytime i try to sign into msn messenger 6.2 it freezes after about 1 minute. an when i tried to download 6.1 it downloaded as 6.2
so even when i downloaded msn messenger 5 (which is crap) it just says the passport service is unavailable. but when i checked the msn messenger status it says "all systems are stable and workin properly" any help to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated. thanx

1st error was w/win messenger (password or user name not valid -- it was!)

install msn messenger 6.2 (disabled win/msg 1st)

now @ signin i get the "troubleshooter" & x81000370 error.

another forum suggests run cmd:
regsvr32 softpub.dll to re-start a service but it does not work either.
