got a network connection problem whit a startup. When i boot my comp, it takes about 3 min to start normal working on it...like connect to internet. When i came to windows i just cant connect to internet, but i must wait Lan to loads...and that takes a loot of time.. i got a very nice comp(amd 3000+939, 2GB of ram(400mhz),..so on). Why dont the drivers for network loads fast?

This is one of the shortcuts XP took so that it can boot up faster than Windows 2000. It waits for the user to interact with the network resource before it tries to connect to it.

The problem is, of course, that if the users forget to browse/touch/interact with said network-mapped drives, and try to run an application shortcut to a resource on those drives - nothing happens and they get frustrated.

I have done some reasearch and found where you are "supposedly able" to use gpedit.msc to set this certain policy to the Windows 2000 'rule.' However, this didn't work.

I'm 'ok' with using a batch file for this purpose, though I would really like to know if it is possible to use the group policy editor in XP to fix this problem the right way.
