| [wireless] Linksys Wusb11 & procnics9x.dll Error.. Help!
Greetings!
I have been working on installing a Linksys Wusb11 usb adaptor for hours and am ready to throw the %$^#$^ thing out the window!
I followed the manual and installed the cd, etc. Plugging the adaptor in while windows is booted will show that the card is recognized, and working. I reboot and Windows disables the card with a Driver conflict error (a procnics9x.dll error also appears) If I unplug and replug the adaptor while windows is up and running, all is good!
Linksys was absolutely no help (saying that procnics9x.dll is a windows file, I dont believe it is in any of the cab files!)
To Summarize:
Boot windows with device plugged in.. get network map errors, a procnics9x.dll error and the card is disabled in control panel.
Unplug & re-attach:
All is good!
Reboot.. same thing happens!
What gives!!!!
Thanks

I'm getting the same error message ("can't load procnic9x.dll") on a Win95 notebook, and haven't been able to find the solution at all. It's not a USB issue, b/c it's on a card, and it doesn't matter which card slot I put it in -- I still get the same error. I haven't been able to find anything about it in the Microsoft Knowledge Base or the Linksys version of the KB. I found this discussion via google. I'm considering putting Win98 on the notebook, but I suspect I'll get the same result. Other than buying an XP notebook (which I really don't want to do) any ideas?
Thanks! |

| reply to r0ckf0rd5311 Hurray! After spending hours and hours with a customer service rep from India who did go through a script instead of experience, I finally gave up on this. I returned the adapter and exchanged it for a D-Link adapter. Costs 10$ less than the discounted Linksys adapter and I was online within 15 - 20 minutes, including install, configuration and testing of connection - works like a dream! Dump linksys adapter and buy something else! |

| Also getting this message with this Linksys card (PCI). I just threw in a generic no-name brand to replace it and it worked perfectly. This has nothing to do with USB or USB drivers, at least in my case.
STAY AWAY from LinkSYS if you use Win98 or 95! |

| reply to r0ckf0rd5311 Linksys procnics9x.dll Error SOLVED
i just spent a lot of time trying to get thru to linksys tech support. while i waited (and was dropped twice) i managed to fix the problem. it's confusing and buggy...
read the instructions. i installed the card, then drivers. this is wrong. install the cd drivers for your card. it will ask you to restart. SAY NO. *shut down* the computer yourself (no restart!). install the card, and reboot.
you will likely see the procnics9x.dll error. click ok. go to your device manager in the control panel, and click on the network card (it should probably have an ! on it, as it isn't working). click it's properties, and reinstall/update the driver. make sure the cd is in the drive, and let it automatically search in the windows directory, and the cd (check both boxes). it should find the drivers (somewhere) and request a restart.
presto! it should work.
