The Wilson Cellular Direct Connect 3 Watt Power Booster can increase your cellular phone and broadband Data Card coverage up to 50 miles with up to 3 watts of output power. It will greatly reduce disconnects, drop outs and noise as well as eliminating all microwave energy radiating into your head. An improved cellular signal means faster speeds on your broadband PC Card. Your phone will use less battery power with the improved signal giving you longer talk and standby times.
How it Works
The Direct Connect amplifies your send and receive signal. Advanced electronics enable you to receive and transmit better than your cell phone and many Data Cards. Wilson's custom circuitry, provides the lowest signal to noise ratio of any direct connect amplifier available. The Direct Connect connects directly to your cell phone or PC Card with a Wilson Antenna and Phone Antenna Adapter (sold separately). Use the Direct Connect in your car, boat, home or office (Car adapter is included. A/C adapter sold separately).
How does the DirectConnect Work?
When using the amplifier, the signal is received by the outside antenna from the cell site. The signal is then amplified and sent into your phone or Data Card through the external antenna adapter (sold separately). When the phone or PC Card transmits, the signal is sent to the amplifier through the adapter then amplified and transmitted to the cell site through the outside antenna.

Warning (In Vehicle Use): The outside antenna must be mounted with a separation distance of at least 15.5 inches from any of the vehicle occupants or nearby persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or amplifier. Use of a cellular amplifier with an antenna gains higher than 5.12dBi is in violation of FCC regulations for which the offender is fully liable. All Wilson Mobile Antennas are 5.12dBi or less.
Warning (In-Building Use): Lightning protection is recommended for all in-building installations. When using in-building, the outside antenna must be fixed-mounted on an outdoor permanent structure with a separation of at least 20 feet from all persons during normal operation.

Can I use a Direct Connection amplifier as a wireless unit by adding an inside antenna?
The Direct Connection amplifiers must be physically connected to your cell phone or cellular data card with an external antenna adapter. A Direct Connection amplifier does not produce enough gain to drive an inside antenna and give you even a small service range. Consider a Wilson amplifier / repeater system
Can I leave my amplifier on all the time?
All Wilson amplifiers can remain on all the time; however, leaving the amplifier on in a vehicle when it is not running can discharge the battery in a day or two. In a vehicle, Wilson recommends that the amplifier be powered through the ignition switch so that the amplifier turns off and on with the vehicle.
Do I need an FCC license or permit to operate a Wilson amplifier?
Wilson amplifiers are FCC "type" approved. They require no license or permit to operate.
Can I wire the 12VDC power connection directly into my vehicle's electrical system?
Yes. Most of Wilson's amplifiers have a hardwire kit available that allows you to connect directly to the vehicle's electrical system. You can also cut off the cigarette lighter adapter plug and wire the cord into a fused circuit. If you use a circuit controlled by the ignition switch, you can turn the amplifier off and on with the vehicle's key. The center contact in the amplifier's power connection is positive. Wiring the amplifier into the ignition system will prevent the amplifier from discharging the vehicle's battery when the vehicle is not running.
Will your amplifiers work on GSM?
Yes. Wilson has amplifiers that work with all analog and digital cell phone technologies, including AMPS, CDMA, GSM, TDMA, iDEN, EDGE, 1xEV-DO, GPRS and the latest 3G HSDPA. Wilson has amplifiers specifically designed for GSM and iDEN.
What if there is no external antenna adapter available for my cellular device?
Not all wireless mobile phones or PC Cards can be equipped with an external antenna adapter which is required to use the Wilson DirectConnect. If you have such a wireless device, try the Wilson SignalBoost universal cellular signal booster.
