Summary: Popups that appear in your internet browser are usually fixed using a good popup blocker.

How do I stop popups?

It depends on what kind of popups you're seeing.

If you're seeing Messenger Service popups (usually a grey box in the center of your screen with an OK button), you need to stop the Windows Messenger Service. The article about the different messengers below has instructions.

If you're seeing internet browser popups full of advertising or porn, then a good popup blocker will do. I'm quite happy with the blocker that's built into the Google Toolbar.
