Leo's Answers Hello! *** Contents
*** This Week's New Articles on Ask Leo! How do I turn off User Access Control (UAC) in Windows Vista?
UAC is a good thing. Really. Yes, on occasion it does ask for confirmation where "in the old days" Windows XP would not have. But one of the times it asks for confirmation is when malware strikes ... exactly the time when you want to be able to say "NO!". Perhaps like you, though, I've never been in a situation where I've wished I could have said no. Like you said, I know what I'm doing. So let's turn off UAC. Continue reading:

Until recently the answer to this question was "You can't". But, say what you will about the new Windows Live Hotmail interface, Microsoft did add a couple of frequently requested features, and forwarding email was one of them. Continue reading:

"How do I download my Windows Live Hotmail to my machine?" * * * Do email tracking services work?
That's actually a comment that was posted to one of my articles on whether or not you could tell if email has been opened or read by the recipient. The short answer is that there's really only one email tracking technique currently in use, and it only works maybe half the time. In other words, it's not all that helpful. Let me explain how it works, and you'll see what I mean. Continue reading: "Do email tracking

Here's an example of on reason they're quite handy. Why would a web site's automatic sign-in suddenly stop working? I recently used pest patrol and deleted everything it came up with. I believe I deleted something that has to do with the automatic sign in for comcast and hotmail accounts. I cleared out everything in the log of pest patrol too, so I can't recover anything. QUESTION: Is there any way to get the automatic sign in to work again? Some of the spyware scanners will report cookies as possible spyware, in the sense that they could potentially be used by a site to track who you are. This is a case where those cookies are actually quite useful. Read more...
Why would a web site's automatic sign-in suddenly stop working? *** Thoughts and Comments Yes, it's me back "in real time" again this week. Last week was busy as I attended a private internet entrepreneurs conference in San Diego, and I elected to simply let my canned newsletter "I'm probably too busy" commentary run automatically. In fact, last weeks newsletter published while my plan was landing in back home in Seattle. I love San Diego. My wife was able to join me for the first few days and we did "the big three" touristy things: Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Then on Tuesday I put her back on a plane for home and "geeked out" with other conference goer's for the rest of the week. Good times. Speaking of conferences, I found out last week that I'll likely be speaking at a larger internet entrepreneur's conference, currently scheduled for next year around this time in Denver, Colorado. Details are still quite in flux, but of you're at all interested you can sign up for the 2008 Netpreneur Conference mailing list and get updates as they become available. Should be a good time. I'm already looking forward to meeting as many of you as might make it. A quick appology to long time readers who already know how to change their Hotmail passwords or who just don't use Hotmail at all. This week's articles include several Windows Live Hotmail related articles, some of which are updates to prior articles. This was neccessitated by the forced upgrade from MSN Hotmail to Windows Live Hotmail. The flow of questions I get seems to indicate that these are still hot and important topics for many, many people. I needed to kick these out to give these folks the answers that they need. I expect a more balanced spread of topics once again next week. 'till next time...
