Summary: Msiexec.exe is simply the Windows Installer Service that is normally started when you install a new program.

What is msiexec.exe?

Msiexec.exe is the Windows Installer Service. It's normally started when you install a new program, and can often be left running afterwards. It may start automatically on reboot in some cases where the installation process has indicated that a reboot was required, or the installation failed to complete successfully.

I am installing a new printer, but I get an error message, and then when all is installed I get more error messages and dont print at all.

Found this help page on Microsoft's support site that fixed the issue for me:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315353

Unfortunately, depending on what is going on, you may have to do a repair install of windows. I was fortunate that i did not have to.

my computers suck man. I cant install anything from the internet include that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

When I open task manager there is at least 3 "msiexec.exe running. Whenever I click.."end task" its stops for about 10 seconds then re-appears What is it? How do I get rid of it or make it stop opening?
