My Internet Explorer address bar disappeared - how do I get it back?

Home » Web » Browsers » Internet Explorer

Summary: There are a couple different ways to restore your Internet Explorer address bar if it has disappeared.

My Internet Explorer address bar has disappeared! All I have is search bars from Google and Mywebsearch and Iwonsearch. How do I get it back???

You should be able to right-click on one of the remaining toolbars, and select address bar again.

If that doesn't stick, I'd suspect one of those other search bars for being spyware (not Google's, though - Google's toolbar is good and I run it myself). I'd would run a spyware tool immediately.

Update:

Microsoft recently released this knowledgebase article: The Internet Explorer Address bar is missing.

I have tried everything to get my IE address bar back. The suggestion to click on the icon (flag) won't work for me, because there is no flag. There is no way to click on 'view' because there is no view. The only thing I get when I open IE it opens briefly and then makes the dreaded error sound. I finally had to go change my internet connection to MSN in order to browse the web. But I'm limited in what I can use it for. HELP!

Some additional info on my post above. On top left side of my page, where the IE symbol is, the words Windows Internet Explorer is not there. For example, on my laptop presently, it shows MSN.com-Windows Internet Explorer. Hope this helps with my problem.

You right click somewhere near where the menu toolbar should be, then click menu bar. This will bring back FILE, EDIT, VIEW, FAVOURTIES, etc.

I can not right click somewhere near the menu toolbar. I click on the Internet Explorer icon on my task bar, it opens for a brief second and closes.

Hey, thanks for the posting. The advice you gave didn't help as much as the reference to the article, which helped alot. (The address bar was there, but unavailable, locked into the toolbar area). Thanks again!
